Terms of service

The rules for using Editara. Written to be understood rather than to be unreadable, which does not make them any less binding.

The service

Editara accepts an image and a written instruction and returns a modified image produced by a generative model. Free use is limited to a small allowance of credits — a one-off balance without an account, and a small grant each day with one; paid plans raise that limit. Nothing here is a guarantee of availability, and the service may change or be withdrawn.

What you may upload

Only images you own or otherwise have the right to edit. By uploading, you confirm you have that right, and that doing so does not infringe anyone else’s copyright, privacy or publicity rights.

You keep ownership of what you upload. We claim no rights over your photographs beyond what is needed to process the request you asked for.

What you may not do

• Sexual or intimate imagery of real people, and any content involving minors. This has no exceptions.
• Impersonation: edits made to depict a real person doing or saying something they did not, or to pass as them.
• Fabricating documents, identification, receipts, records or evidence of any kind.
• Harassment, or content that targets a private individual to intimidate or degrade them.
• Automated access, scraping, or circumventing the security check or the free-use limit.
• Anything unlawful where you are.

Accounts used for these are closed without refund. Where content is unlawful, we will cooperate with a valid legal request.

Output and ownership

You own the images you generate, subject to the terms below and to any rights held by others in the source material — editing a photograph you do not own does not give you rights in it.

Free and Starter output is licensed for personal use only. Commercial rights come with Pro and above. Output is not watermarked on any tier.

Generative models can produce similar output for different users. We cannot promise your result is unique, and we do not guarantee it is free of resemblance to existing work.

What we do not promise about results

This matters more here than in most terms documents, so it is stated plainly rather than buried. Generative editing produces plausible images, not accurate ones.

• Restoring a damaged face generates a face; it does not recover the original.
• Upscaling generates detail; text, faces and plates may look right and be wrong.
• Colorization infers colour; it is an interpretation, not a record.

Do not rely on output as evidence, identification or documentation. Check results before using them anywhere it matters. The service is provided as is, without warranty of accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose.

Billing

Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the interval you chose until cancelled. Cancel from your account billing page at any time; access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, and no further charge is made.

Credits attached to a plan are for use within that plan and are not cash. If a generation fails through our fault and consumes credits, contact us and it will be corrected.

Prices may change, with notice before your next renewal. If a change is not acceptable, cancel before it takes effect.

Your data

What happens to uploads, results and account data is set out on the privacy page, which forms part of these terms. In summary: uploads are deleted at the end of the request, and result links expire.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data or profits, or for decisions made in reliance on a generated image. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud, and nothing removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

Ending it

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time from account settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where required by law.

Changes

These terms may change. The date at the top moves when they do, and material changes will be signalled on the site. Continuing to use the service after a change means accepting it.
